Our story begins in 1973, when our founder, Terry Kaczuk, began his career in the building trades industry in Cleveland, Ohio following his father’s footsteps. He started in waterproofing and roofing and then transitioned into the erection division, where he developed specialized expertise in the assembly of precast concrete panels, an emerging construction method at the time.
Backed by more than 15 years of industry experience and a foundation of trade knowledge passed down from his father, Terry Kaczuk founded Advanced Caulking Systems, Inc. to meet the growing demand for specialized caulking and waterproofing solutions in precast construction.
Since its founding, our company evolved into a full-service concrete, masonry, and steel restoration company. Through long-standing relationships with engineers, architects, material manufacturers, and distributors, we earned a reputation for excellence in the industry.
TJ Dowhan, Terry’s stepson, joined the company in 2012 as a laborer, continuing a three-generation tradition in the building trades. He advanced through leadership roles including Project Superintendent and General Manager before becoming President and Owner in January 2024.
With a foundation of over 37 years of family experience in the trades and a strong background in finance and management, TJ is committed to delivering an exceptional customer experience through a solutions-oriented, team-driven approach.
In 2026, we rebranded our name and identity to reflect our expanded capabilities while staying true to the values, expertise, and craftsmanship that have enabled us to offer our clients the most effective solutions available.
